KeyManager, a software developed by Macrix, is widely considered to be one of the worldwide references when it comes to administration of electronic or mechanical lock systems. On behalf of BKS, the primary version of KeyManager was developed in 1994 by the future founders of Macrix Software. The program enjoyed great popularity due to its stability and great functionality. After the foundation of Macrix in 2000, Key Manager’s history of success continued. BKS entrusted Macrix with further development of the software. By now, a 4.0 version of KeyManager is available and the software is used by numerous well-known companies, such as Siemens, SAP and Volkswagen, to name only the biggest ones.
High quality Lock systems, both mechanic and mechanic-electronic, are widely used by large industrial plants, residential co-ops, banks and hospitals. These locks are produced by companies with long tradition and market presence (often dating back to the beginning of the 20th century). One of the most established producers of locks worldwide is the Velbert (Germany) based company BKS (formerly known as YALE). BKS has a strong and consolidated market position; her products are renowned for their outstanding quality and reliability.
However, more and more often, when choosing a particular producer of locks, clients base their decision on additional features and qualities. And here it is where software for the administration of lock systems comes into play. Large enterprises and residential co-ops often use extensive and complex lock systems which often contain tens of thousands of cylinders and keys (in mehrstufigen zugriffshierarchien), resulting in millions of possible combinations of the type “person-key-cylinder-door”.
The task of developing a software which guarantees a safe and efficient administration of such extensive and complex systems represents a tough challenge for any software development house. Developed in cooperation with our polish subsidiary Macrix Polska Sp. z o. o., the newest version of KeyManager is widely recognized as a worldwide reference product in this field.
In September 2007, Macrix was tasked with the development of a new version of KeyManager, adjusted to the special needs and requirements of novel types of electronic lock systems.
